What to Expect at Your First IV Drip Appointment

Booking your first IV drip is a small but slightly unfamiliar step. The treatment itself is straightforward, but if you have never had one, it helps to know what is going to happen so you can arrive relaxed and ready.

Every treatment is delivered by a GMC, NMC, or HCPC-registered practitioner, in either one of our two Chelmsford or Grays clinics, or via our mobile service across Essex and London. The clinical standard is the same wherever your treatment takes place.

Before Your Appointment

Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a short pre-treatment health questionnaire by email. Your registered practitioner uses it to confirm the formulation is right for you, check for any medical interactions, and capture your medical history before you arrive.

Quick prep checklist: eat something light in the two hours beforehand, drink water in the hour before, wear sleeves that roll up easily, allow about an hour for the full appointment.

When You Arrive

If you are booked into a clinic, you are greeted, taken to a private treatment room, and offered water. If you have booked our mobile service, your practitioner arrives at your chosen location and sets up in any clean, comfortable room you choose. Either way, the next 10 minutes are the same.

Your practitioner runs through your health questionnaire with you, answers any last questions, and confirms the formulation you have selected. This is the moment to mention anything that has changed since you completed the form online, recent illness, new medication, or a change in caffeine or alcohol intake the night before.

Every Vita Drip session uses the same clinical-grade formulations whether you are treated at home or in clinic. The pre-treatment consultation, medical oversight, and aftercare are identical. Location is the only variable.

During the Drip

The cannula is inserted into a vein in your arm or the back of your hand. The insertion is brief, a sharp scratch for a second or two, and then it settles. Most people are surprised at how little they feel it once it is in place.

From there, the drip runs over 30 to 60 minutes depending on your chosen formulation. Vitamin injections are faster, around 5 to 10 minutes. You can read, watch something on your phone, take calls, work on a laptop, or simply rest. Some clients sleep through it.

Will I feel anything during?

Most of the time, no. Occasionally people report a faint metallic taste or a brief flush of warmth, both of which are normal and pass within a minute. Your practitioner stays with you the whole time, so anything that does come up is dealt with on the spot.

Can I take calls or work?

Yes. Many of our Essex and London clients book a mobile drip during a work-from-home morning and answer emails or take meetings while the treatment runs.

After the Drip

Once the bag has finished, the cannula is removed and a small dressing is applied. You are asked to sit quietly for five to ten minutes so your practitioner can check you are settled, then you are free to go about your day.

Most clients feel noticeably brighter within an hour or two as the vitamins and fluids reach circulation. Energy, mental clarity, and a sense of proper hydration are the most commonly reported immediate effects. With higher-dose protocols like NAD+ therapy or our premium drips, the full benefit builds over the next 24 to 48 hours.

You can eat, drink, drive, and continue your day as normal. There is no recovery period.

How the First-Time Booking Works

Booking your first IV drip with Vita Drip is straightforward:

  • Choose your treatment and location via our online booking system or by calling 07349 115 358. Same-day slots are often available across Essex and London.

  • Complete your health consultation, a short pre-treatment questionnaire covering your medical history, current medications, and reason for the visit.

  • Attend your appointment at the clinic, or have your practitioner come to your chosen address if you booked mobile. Arrive five minutes early if you are visiting in person.

  • Relax during the session. Most drips take 30 to 60 minutes. Vitamin injections take 5 to 10 minutes.

  • Aftercare and continue your day. Your practitioner removes the cannula, runs through aftercare guidance, and you are free to carry on with your day as planned.

Frequently Asked Questions — Your First IV Drip

Will it hurt? +

The cannula insertion is the only sharp sensation, and it is brief. Once in place, you will not feel the drip itself.

Can I drive after my appointment? +

Yes. There is no recovery period. You can drive, eat, drink, and continue your day as planned. Most clients feel brighter within the hour.

What if I feel faint during the drip? +

Tell your practitioner. The drip rate is adjusted, water is provided, and the feeling typically passes within a minute or two. It is uncommon but the response is built into how we work.

Can I have a drip before work or a meeting? +

Yes. Most first-timers book a morning slot and head straight to work, often reporting feeling sharper for it. Mobile bookings work especially well for this, since you can take the appointment in your home office.

How soon will I notice the effect? +

Most people feel something within an hour. The fuller benefit, especially with higher-dose protocols like NAD+ or premium drips, develops over the next 24 to 48 hours.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule? +

Contact us as soon as possible. We are flexible with rescheduling and will always do our best to accommodate changes to your booking.
